Online Dog Behaviour Consultations

Considering online behaviour support? Not sure how it works?

This post will walk you through how remote support works and how it can make a real difference for your dog.

Are online consultations right for your dog?

Real changes happen over time, when you are with your dog, living your lives together.

I can’t come and live with you (even though several people I’ve worked with have “joked” about it!) so I need to be able to teach you the skills to do it without me.

What matters above all else is that you can understand your dog. Know what they need. Have the ability to read them and the tools to address situations as they arise in your every day lives.

Don’t I need to see the behaviour?

This is a really common question!

In all honesty, often I don’t! I have worked with hundreds and hundreds of dogs over the years and there is very little I haven’t seen already many times over.

By looking at body language handouts and you describing what you see and experience we will deduce what’s going on for your dog.

In the lead up to the consultation you are encouraged to send in short video clips of various elements of your dogs life.

Here’s them eating dinner!

Here’s them having a blast with their favourite dog pal!

Another of them having a lovely time on a walk. It all gives me a good idea of their normal every day lives, behaviour and responses to things. This way I can get to know your dog in a broader sense.

Anything you feel I really need to see, as long as it isn’t dangerous or causing undue stress, you can take a short video clip to send to me.

Learning starts at home – not at spaghetti junction!

When you learn to drive you don’t have your first lesson in the hardest environment.

You have to learn about the car, how it works and the basic principles before taking it out on the main roads.

Your dog is the same. Our initial focus is building solid foundations for you and your dog to learn new skills successfully.

Point your laptop, tablet, or phone in the right direction and we’ll talk through it and start training at home before anything else.

Some of the many other benefits of an online dog behaviour consultation:

  • You can concentrate on our conversation and not managing your dog around a visitor! This is a big one – many of us struggle to concentrate when we are having to half watch our dogs.

  • Your dog isn’t stressed or anxious about having me in their house.

  • I see what you see of your pet at home with no “trainer effect”. When your dog succeeds, it succeeds with you, not just with the pro!

  • No need to panic tidy because someone is coming round!

  • More flexible scheduling and no travel fees.

  • No rescheduling due to weather conditions.

  • Can’t afford to take time off work? Schedule catch ups in your lunch break at the office!

  • Want real-time training while you’re on holiday with your dog? Great! Sign in from your holiday home and keep up training in a new space!
  • You can join via multiple devices – easy for when getting everyone together in the same place at the same time proves tricky.

  • Online sessions allow for time to be split into multiple shorter sessions if this works better for you, your pet’s concentration span or the issue we’re working on.

“Working with Naomi has been so helpful. Khaleesi is quite anxious especially with new people in the home.

With virtual appointments I was able to show Naomi how Khaleesi is without any new anxieties. I couldn’t thank Naomi enough as Khaleesi is much calmer with new dogs and new people. I really felt like she listened to my issues with my dog.

Virtually has been great for me as like I said Khaleesi would’ve acted differently to a new person in her home.

Thank you again We Teach Pets.”

“We were initially a little cautious about remote working. However DO NOT be put off by this. In fact this is an advantage. We know that if any dog trainer made a home visit, Rubi would react completely differently.

Working remotely allows Naomi to study Rubi’s (and our) behaviour without distraction.

Naomi has given us the tools and and management techniques which has made a dramatic improvement to our daily life. We highly recommend Naomi.”

“Naomi has been fantastic! We were having problems with our Border Collie and I thought because of where we live we were beyond help.

I then found Naomi and discovered she could work with us entirely virtually.

Her guidance was easy to follow and the reports we got after each session were a huge help to look back on. Bailey responded very well to the training and is now like a different dog!”

“Naomi was recommended to me to help with my boy, Ryu.

I was initially skeptical about how online support would work and booked to have a video call before committing to a session.

Ryu has come on in leaps and bounds since we’ve started working with We Teach Pets. He is more trusting when being introduced to new people and we’re feeling more confident about how to identify and meet his needs resulting in a happy family!

Thank you so much Naomi!”

If you have any questions then please don’t hesitate to get back in touch and I will do my best to answer them.

And, if you still don’t feel convinced, let’s talk about in person options.
