Terms and Conditions

By making a booking you acknowledge that you have read, understood and fully accept the terms and conditions as detailed below.

Bookings:

To ensure that there are no medical issues contributing to your pet’s behaviour, We Teach Pets will ask for your pet to be assessed by your vet and ask for a veterinary referral form to be completed prior to beginning behaviour support.

Consultations will only be confirmed on receipt of payment, the completed questionnaire, and the vet referral form. Confirmation of your appointment date and time will then be emailed to you with details on how to attend, either face to face or virtually.

It is your responsibility to ensure you are available on the correct date, time and place for the consultation according to the information provided by We Teach Pets.

“Basic” packages cannot be upgraded to “Premium” packages once the initial consultation has taken place.

The consultation fee for the ‘Anxiety Basics Package’ includes: a pre-consult video review, an initial consultation lasting up to 2 hours, a report and training plan and a 1 hour follow up session if needed, plus a further training task sheet as needed.

The consultation fee for the ‘Anxiety Premium Package’ includes: a: pre-consult video review, an initial consultation lasting up to 2 hours, a report and training plan, 2 follow-up sessions with further task sheets as needed, video reviews and feedback to support training between sessions.

Follow-up sessions included in these packages will need to be scheduled within two months of receiving your report and training plan. If you do not schedule your follow-up session within 2 months, We Teach Pets reserves the right to terminate your package, and no monies will be reimbursed.

Continued follow-up support will be available via paid ad hoc sessions for as long as you and your pet need, in order to reach reasonable goals. You will get homework for each session and be guided through the process.

Methods:

We Teach Pets uses positive based, force-free methods of behavioural modification. The use of certain training devices are prohibited during sessions. This includes choke chains, prong collars, spray collars, electric collars, and any other device or handling deemed unsuitable during the behavioural modification programme. If you are at all unsure, please don’t hesitate to ask, so that we can find appropriate and effective alternatives as needed.

As a Clinical Animal Behaviourist, all methods used will be modern, with scientific underpinnings along with learning from previous experience.

Cancellations:

Payment is required at least 5 days prior to your Initial Consultation for the package you select.

You may cancel or rearrange your Initial Consultation with at least 48 hours notice.

If less than 48 hours notice is given for a cancellation, you will receive a 50% refund of any monies paid only.

In the event you need to cancel a follow-up session that is included in the package, we require at least 48 hours notice to reschedule. If less than 48 hours notice is given, the session will be forfeited.

Guarantees:

There are no guarantees that a problem behaviour will be completely resolved. Some issues have a genetic input; habits may have been performed over long time periods. All successes will depend on the work put in by you, the owner, people involved in the training and environmental factors.

Results may be seen very quickly but are more likely to take time and commitment and occasionally a behaviour plan may not be effective in a full resolution of problem behaviour.

Your pet will be objectively assessed and We Teach Pets will write a behaviour report and training programme designed to suit your needs. This will most likely need ongoing commitment, consistency and patience.

Implementing the treatment plan is the responsibility of the owner as is the responsibility for the pet’s welfare and on-going behaviour.

We Teach Pets cannot be held responsible for any events or actions arising from failure to follow any advice given either in writing or verbally.

Some pets are not suitable to remain in their current home, and if this is the case it will be discussed with you. You are solely responsible for this decision.

Safety:

Safety is a primary concern. If your pet has any behaviour issues that may cause injury to itself or others, escape or damage, you are required to notify We Teach Pets in writing so that we can adjust the programme accordingly. Any incidents that occur due to lack of management, neglect or otherwise, remain the responsibility of the pet owner.

Dog training in particular often involves physical activity and as such, owners are reminded to pay due care and attention to their own health and safety, and that of others.

Owners remain responsible for the actions of their pets at all times. Neither We Teach Pets nor any person acting on behalf of the company accepts liability for any loss, damage, accident, injury or illness to dogs, other animals, handlers, spectators, the public or owners or property whatsoever.

Any children who are attending the consultations must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times.

For health and safety reasons, please pick up after your dog and dispose of waste responsibly.

GDPR:

Your address, email and phone number will all be required in order for a consultation to go ahead.

You agree that you will give your veterinary surgeon, referring vet and/or veterinary staff at your veterinary practice permission to sign a referral form that either you or they will send back to We Teach Pets, along with your pet’s medical history before the initial consultation. You also agree that we have your permission to discuss your pet’s case verbally or in writing by email or letter at any time during the behaviour modification programme.

You agree that any photos or videos shared with We Teach Pets are used for information purposes only and will be stored securely. Your photos and videos will not be used for any promotional material, or shared with anyone else for any other reason other than above without your permission.

You agree that a copy of the behaviour modification programme will be sent to your referring veterinary surgeon if required, and that we are able to discuss the case with your veterinary surgeon at any time that we feel is necessary.

Your pet’s medical history, personal details and reports created during the programme, will be stored within email and on a secure drive, accessible only to We Teach Pets.

Personal details may be stored for up to 7 years after which emails and files are deleted from our records.

Your personal data or any aspect of your case will not be divulged to anyone else without your permission.

While you’re waiting for the consultation…

Management is key for safety and to prevent the problem from getting worse before the training plan begins. Every time your pet rehearses a behaviour, it becomes more ingrained so try to avoid scenarios that will cause the unwanted behaviour. If your pet is showing signs of aggression, then make sure to keep them under control by using leads, muzzles, dog gates and crates as safe and appropriate, while avoiding any triggers.
