The Behaviour Consultation
On this page you can find some more detailed information about how the behaviour consultation process works.
If you have any additional or alternative needs and would benefit from any adaptations to the below to set you up for better success then I’m very much open to a conversation about how best to help.
Prior to your behaviour consultation
Questionnaire
You’ll have an online form to complete which will give me basic information about your pet. The issues you’re having, your goals, and brief information about their social behaviour, diet, house rules and so on. We’ll also expand on some of these areas in the behaviour consultation.
Videos
If you have any videos of your dog – whether of the behaviour or just everyday life (walks, mealtimes, play, interactions, home/garden tour), please send them before your consultation. For anything risky or stressful, especially involving aggression, skip filming and we’ll work from your descriptions instead.
Veterinary Referral
Before we begin, I’ll need a quick referral form from your vet. This makes sure we’re not missing any medical factors, keeps your vet in the loop, and means we can work together if extra checks or treatment could help.
The consultation
Your initial behaviour consultation is a chance for me to really get to know you and your pet. We’ll start with a relaxed chat about what’s been going on, how it’s affecting you, and any background or history you can share.
Together, we’ll look at timelines, triggers, discuss any videos you’ve sent, and body language cues to understand how your pet is feeling and what’s most important to you. From there, we’ll create a clear plan – looking for quick wins where possible, preventing unwanted behaviour, and setting the stepping stones for longer-term progress.
I recommend setting aside two hours for full consultations (apart from the 60 minute touch sensitivity session) so we can take our time, cover everything you feel is important, and make sure you leave feeling confident in our plan. You know your pet best, and your insight will be at the heart of everything we do.

After the behaviour consultation
I will write up a report summarising the main areas we discussed during the behaviour consultation. This means you have something to read back over as a reminder of what you’re working on. These tend to be sent out within 2 working days of the consultation. I will also send you any additional handouts and videos as an aid to the training plan.
Your vet will get a simplified summary of our session so that they know that I have followed up on their referral, and to keep them in the loop in terms of our training plan and provide an open channel for communication as needed.
You can also start to send over questions and videos to our private WhatsApp group if you’ve opted for that level of support. I check WhatsApp at least daily Mon-Fri between 9:00 – 17:00.
After your package ends, you can add further support so you have me with you for as long as you need it.

Online sessions
Video calls have swept the world as the latest way to keep in touch. They are a great way of scheduling behaviour consultations and check-ups with real-time support and advice with more flexibility, less wait time and no travel fee.
I can meet you and your family, observe your pets and feedback on your training. Virtual sessions are just as effective and efficient for conducting in-home training. Me being there can be distracting for some pets, or cause others to feel stressed and not act normally. In many cases, working together online can be much more effective and efficient as a result.
By watching from behind a screen I can see your pet exactly as you do!
